Walt Disney World in 2011 – You can now book Full Disney World Vacation packages for 2011

Walt Disney World has released their vacation rates for 2011.  This means that we can book a 2011 Walt Disney World Vacation Package which  with a room now, park tickets and dining.   Those who booked the “Basic Package” which was released earlier this month can now add tickets and dining to their existing reservations.

If you’re ready to get started, just fill out the online form at http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/Ordering.html

What is the advantage to booking a basic package now?

  1. Since you’ve already contacted us once, you’re already interesting in starting your vacation planning and looking for deals on airfare.
  2. Dining can be booked up to 180 prior to arrival and guests staying at a Disney resort get a bit of an advantage because they can book all of their dining reservations for up to ten additional days, beginning 180 days prior to arrival.  This is a significant advantage for those quick-to-fill locations like the Fantasmic Dinner Packages, LeCellier, and Ohana.
  3. Booking early gives you the best chance of getting your first choice of resort and room category – this is especially important if you’re interested in garden wing rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a room at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, a room at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort – or any other resort or room category that fills quickly.   The deposit is fully refundable up to 45 days prior to arrival.
  4.  Booking now lets you pay your deposit now and, if desired,  to make partial payments (minimum $20) between now and your final payment date.
  5. When you book through Build A Better Mouse Trip, we provide your choice of planning resource at no extra cost as soon as your deposit is paid (more information below).   The earlier you book, the earlier you receive your planning resource and the more time you have to utilize those resources.
  6. Booking early means that we have you in our system and will apply any applicable discounts or promotions to your reservation as soon as a promotion is released.

At Build A Better Mouse Trip, we are convinced that everyone can benefit with good touring plans.   During busy times, a good plan will absolutely keep you ahead of the crowds and out of the lines – our clients typically wait less than 20 minutes for rides, even thrill rides and headliners.   During less crowded times, a good plan factors in shorter park hours and fewer performance times.    But the most important benefit of a good plan is that everyone gets to ride and see the things that they are looking forward to because everyone’s priorities are included in a plan that tours the parks efficiently and effectively.  For more information see: http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/freetouringplans.htm

Because we’re Disney-focused, we can provide:

  1. Help with building a Best Days Itinerary – a daily schedule that puts you in the best park for each day of your trip
  2. Help with dining reservations (subject to availability)
  3. Theme park touring plans that keep you ahead of the crowds and out of the long lines.  We will provide either a subscription to Tour Guide Mike or TouringPlans.com or the newest edition of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (guidebook) to you as soon as your deposit is paid.  The choice is yours.
  4. We book directly through Disney so you never pay any more than if you booked yourself – then you receive expert help to make the vacation planning go smoothly and your Disney vacation the best it can be.

Walt Disney World Resort in August 2010 – Crowd warnings, special events, ride closures and refurbishments

The first two weeks of August are still busy at Walt Disney World but crowd levels slowly decrease through the second half of August as kids head back to school. The weather can be hot and humid but, by doing a little advance planning, you can still plan on having a great time on your WDW summer vacation.

Crowd Warnings for Your August 2010 Trip to Walt Disney World Resort

1.)     Summer Vacation means lines and crowds. Sure, people are worried about the economy but Disney responded by offering some great promotions. Families will still be flocking to Walt Disney and the first two weeks of August will see peak crowds (an 8- 10 on a crowd scale of 1-to-10). A good touring plan will keep you ahead of the crowds and out of the long lines.

2.)    Fantasmic! (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) –This great show is no longer presented every night. It will be offered August 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29. This is a very popular show and we highly recommend it – arrive at least 60 minutes early, if you do not have a Fantasmic! Dinner package. Warning: When there are limited performances, you know Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going to be busier on days featuring a Fantasmic! show. Afternoons will be especially busy as those with Park Hopper tickets come over to see the show. You’ll probably want to catch Fantasmic! so be sure you have a good touring plan that will help you manage the crowds and you’ll be fine. Warning: This show is excellent but it does feature villains for a good 8-10 minutes. The scene is fairly intense and can be frightening to small children.

3.)    Main Street Electric Parade & SpectroMagic Parades (Magic Kingdom) – The Main Street Electric Parade is offered every night through August 14th. The SpectroMagic Parade will be presented on August 15 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24,26, 27, 28, 30. The following dates do not have a nighttime parade: August 22, 25, 29, 31.

4.)    Extra Magic Hours – (Special hours only available to Disney resort hotel guest)! We recommend that everyone avoid the Extra Magic Hour park of the day during the peak summer travel season. Disney has 33,000 hotel rooms and no one goes to Disney alone – that means too many people are pointed in the same direction at the same time. You’ll have a much nicer time by going to a less busy park. This is doubly important if you are not staying at a Disney resort – you don’t want to get to the theme park and find a bunch of Disney guests in line in front of you.

5.)    Free Dining Promotion – this promotion is offered to keep guests coming during hurricane season and after school is back in session. The crowds in the parks are moderate but this promotion really impacts the availability of dining reservations. Book your dining reservations right away.

Special Events at Disneyworld in August 2010

1.)     Summer Nightastic! Special events in the Disney theme parks through August 14th. Magic Kingdom Theme Park – the “Main Street Electrical Parade” and the “Summer Nightastic Fireworks Spectacular”, led by Tinker Bell, is offered nightly. Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Twilight Zone Tower of Terror will have new lighting effects created especially for Summer Nighastic!. “Rock N’ Glow Dance Party” in the courtyard near the Rock’n Roller Coaster.

2.)     Last Tour To Endor – August 14th, 2010 / 8:00PM – 1:00AM (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) – The Star Tours attraction will be undergoing a major re-imagineering and will reopen in 2011 but before it does, there will be a special event on August 14th with specially themed intergalactic party zones, Star WArs shows, Death Star Disco, and a Stars Wars fireworks spectacular called “Symphony in the Stars”. Costumes are encouraged. Event tickets are $75 each. For tickets: http://www.starwarscelebration.com/en/Events/Disney-Event/

3.)    DREAM OUR DREAMS – A Musical Tribute to the Legacy of Disney Benefit Concert- August 6,7 & 8 @ 8PM. Matinee performance at 2:00PM on August 8th (Epcot). Encore! Cast choir & Orchestra will perform in Epcot’s World Showplace. This special concert is a benefit for the “Make A Wish Foundation” and requires a special ticket. Tickets are $15 each, if purchased in advance through the website at http://encorecentral.org/  . Tickets are $20 (cash only) at the door.

Have You Heard Elliot Dyson over at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort?

If you catch the idea that  “mouse trip” = “Disney vacation”, you’ll understand everything you need to know about our  travel agency from its name:  Build A Better Mouse Trip.  All we want to do is help you have the best  Walt Disney World vacation ever.    One way we do that is by highlighting some of the “hidden gems” at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.    Some people never get past the theme parks so they miss some of fun to be found at the Disney resort hotels – like Elliott Dyson, who performs live music over at Scat Cat’s Lounge in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter resort.

Mr. Dyson plays several instruments and sings favorites by Elvis, Ray Charles, and others.    You can get an idea of what to expect from this video:

What you need to know before you go: The show is family friendly and kids are welcome.  You don’t need to stay at the hotel to come and enjoy the show.    Mr. Dyson is usually there  Wednesday – Saturday nights from 8:30PM – Midnight.  There’s no cover charge and you can order drinks from the bar (including non-alcoholic beverages).    We went over to the Sassagoula Floatworks Food court, which is right next to Scat Cat’s, and got an order of fresh, hot beignets to enjoy while we listened to the show.   We had a great time and I think you will too.

2010 Disney Free Dining Promotion Extended Through December 21, 2010

Limited Availability & Black-out Dates Apply

Disney has extended this year’s Free Dining Promotion to guests booking a Disney vacation package on select dates for check-ins through December 21, 2010.  There are a lot of blackout dates but this is a great deal, if you are able to arrive within the promotional dates.  Your departure date can extend into the blackout dates.

Book a qualifying vacation package at a Disney moderate or deluxe resort and receive the Standard / Plus Dining Plan at no extra cost.   This dining plan includes 1 counter-service meal credit, 1 table-service meal credit, and 1 snack credit per person, per night of stay.   Receiving this dining plan free of charge saves a family of four about $107 per night of stay, based on the regular cost of this dining plan. You can upgrade to the Deluxe dining plan and just pay the difference between the standard and the deluxe plans.  Contact us for details.

Book a qualifying vacation package at a Disney Value Resort (All-Star or Pop Century resorts) and receive the Disney Quick-Service Dining plan at no extra cost.  The quick-service plan provides two quick/counter-service meals + 2 snacks per person, per night of stay.   Receiving this plan at no extra cost saves a family of four about $85 per night of stay.   You can upgrade to the Standard or Deluxe dining plans by paying the difference between the quick service dining plan and your preferred dining plan.  Contact us for details.

  • Travel Dates:  August 15 – October 7, 2010 / October 22 – 28 / November 12 – 18 / November 27 – December 2 / December 10 – 22, 2010.
  • Minimum Requirements:  Must purchase a package that includes three (3) Consecutive nights stay at a Disney Resort + at least 2-Day Disney Magic Your Way theme park Tickets.
  • Must book by August 14th, 2010.   There are a limited number of promotional packages available at each resort so book early to get your first choice in travel dates and resort.
  • You must pay the $200 deposit at the time of booking with the balance due 45 days prior to arrival.
  • Suites and campsites are excluded from this offer.  The Cabins at the Fort Wilderness campground are included in the promotion.
  • If you do not have us book this for you, be sure to tell the booking agent that you want the free dining promotion.   They do not automatically apply promotions to new or existing reservations – you must specifically ask for the discount.
  • Existing reservations falling within these days can be altered (subject to availability) to reflect the free dining promotion.  Call and ask to have the discount applied – it will not happen automatically.
  • Trip Insurance – The travel dates for this promotion fall within Florida’s hurricane season; consider purchasing trip insurance (either through Disney, your airline, or another insurance provider), especially if you have non-refundable, non-transferable airline tickets. Trip insurance is not usually a good value if you are driving.
  • Dining Reservations – Book your dining reservations immediately.  The free dining promotion has a serious impact on the number of available dining reservations and some restaurants may already be fully booked at certain times.    Remember that we book dining reservations on your behalf (subject to availability) when you book your Disney vacation through Build  A Better Mouse Trip.
  • In addition to the free dining promotions, you can receive vacation planning help at no additional cost when you book your Disney vacation through Build  A Better Mouse Trip.  We help with establishing a “Best Days” itinerary, help with dining reservations, and provide either a subscription to www.tourguidemike.com, www.touringplans.com, or a 2010 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (guidebook) to help you with touring plans that keep you ahead of the crowds and out of the long lines.  Contact us today to book your vacation.
