Our Day of Live Entertainment in Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park

We just spent a really fun – and different – day in the Magic Kingdom theme park.  Our goal for the day was to see all of the live entertainment that they offer there.    We didn’t really think of Magic Kingdom as a park with a lot of live entertainment so we initially thought this was going to be an easy assignment – we even thought we would have time for two table-service meals.  Boy were we wrong!  There are about 13 live entertainment acts offered throughout the day in the Magic Kingdom and there are a lot of places where the performance times overlap so working out a schedule that allowed us to see full performances was a bit of a challenge.

Special live entertainment is offered in each of the lands but a lot of the live acts occur on Main Street USA.  Catching it all meant that we probably did more walking than we’ve ever done in a day at the Magic Kingdom.  Then, because so many people have to pass through Main Street at park opening and closing, they don’t have any benches along Main Street so watching the entertainment there meant standing.   Let me tell you, we had some very tired feet at the end of the day!  It was worth it and the experience completely changed my view of Main Street too – I’m not a shopper so I’ve always thought of Main Street as cute but a place to pass through quickly.   In truth, there is a lot to see and enjoy there.

In case you were wondering, we were only about 90% successful in reaching our goal.  We weren’t able to find “Push – the Talking Trash Can”, even after asking three Disney Cast Members for help.   We tried twice to see the “Dream Along With Mickey” show in front of the castle  but were were only able to see a part of the show and, wouldn’t you know it, we caught the same portion both times.  We’ve seen that particular show many times before but the goal was to see all of the live entertainment in one day.   Oh!  I should probably mention that the park closed at 8:00PM and there was not a Main Street Electric Parade that day.  We did see that Electric Water Pageant outside the Magic Kingdom that evening.    We didn’t eat any table-service sitdown meals that day, but we did get lunch at Cosmic Rays Cafe which let us get some video of Sunny Eclipse – an animatronic alien lounge singer that “performs” there.   After the park closed, we went over to Port Orleans Riverside Resort to hear Bob Jackson perform.   We also rode Space Mountain twice, Big Thunder Mountain three times at the end of the day, saw the Hall of Presidents, and rode  Pirates of the Caribbean, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and it’s a small world one time each.   Oh!  We both also managed to eat a Dole Whip and Steve (of course!) had a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.

We took photos and videos of all the entertainment and will be posting the videos on our youtube channel.   We’ve already posted our video of the Main Street Trolley Parade (a new favorite of mine):

The Magic Kingdom’s times guide doesn’t do a very good job of listing all of the times for all of the live acts so I want to send out a HUGE thank you to Steve Soare’s website http://wdwent.com/   This site does a fantastic job of listing Disney World live entertainment and is a wonderful resource for everyone going to WDW.   Thank you, thank you, thank you – we couldn’t have done it without you!

What is your favorite live entertainment act at Disney World?   Please tell us about it in the comment section.

Thank you,

Annette
